When my Father took over the business from his father-in-law in the late 1940’s early 1950’s, wine was just beginning to come of age. Back in the day, when we talked about the fine wine market, it was the great Burgundies and Bordeaux. At the time, the great Chateaux were offering vintages from 1945 through 1961. The most important thing that my Father taught me about wines was that you always buy quality. We traveled around the world to the different vineyards, tasting many different styles of wines and building relationships. The excitement of finding the perfect wines that will surpass our customers’ expectations has always been our goal. We seek out small producers that have total control throughout the entire wine making process, consistently producing the highest quality wine year after year. These producers tend to have older vines, producing smaller yields with great complexities. Their mission like ours is to provide quality rather than quantity.
Our criteria is the same regardless of price, country of origin and varietal. The wines must be well balanced and express the character from the land where the wines are from. We have been recommending wines to our customer for over 75 years and they in turn have been recommending Quality House to their family, friends, and business associates all over the country. Our only advertising is “word-of-mouth.”
